3. Our Products

Given the nature of any food product, the images of products on our website are for illustrative purposes only and we cannot guarantee that the colours accurately reflect the colour of the products ordered by you.  The packaging of the product may vary from that on our website.

4. Making a Purchase

You can purchase goods either at our shop in Cheddar or online through our website.

You may visit as a guest or register an account with us when purchasing items using our website.  We accept cash and card payments in our shop or card and Paypal through our Website.

When placing an order on our website using a credit or debit card, card numbers are encrypted via Transport Layer Security (TLS) keeping details safe from malicious activity.  Transport Layer Security (TLS) is an encryption protocol used to protect data in transit between computers. The sending server checks the security certificate is valid, then uses the public key to encrypt and send an email. Only the receiving server has the private key that can decrypt the email, so the message is sent securely.

We must receive payment in full for your order before we will process it.

Please ensure that all information you give us is accurate and complete to enable us to process your order.  Once we have received your online order we will email a confirmation to you if we accept your order, with all the relevant details of the order. It is at this point that a contract is created.

Should you realise that you have made an error, or you wish to amend any of the details on your order, please call us on 01934 742810 or email info@cheddar.ltd and provided the order has not already been dispatched, we will correct/amend the details for you.

5. Your Rights and Responsibilities

It is your responsibility to check that all the details given to us and stated on the confirmation are correct and to contact us on 01934 742810 or info@cheddar.ltd, should there need to be any amendments made prior to the dispatch of your order.  We are unable to reimburse the value of any goods and postage where we have been given inaccurate information.

All our cheeses are perishable and should be refrigerated on arrival and kept refrigerated before consumption.  All our parcels carry these instructions on their labels.  It is your responsiblity to ensure all perishable goods are correctly stored and we cannot accept liability for any deterioration of our products that have not been stored correctly after being delivered to you.

6. Carriage & Delivery

We deliver to the UK mainland and most EU countries, using a courier service to transport your parcels. UK orders placed Sunday to Wednesday are usually delivered within 48 hours. Orders placed Thursday to Saturday will be delivered the following Tuesday.  International orders are dispatched on Mondays; usually arriving within one week.

Orders are sent via overnight courier for delivery Tuesdays to Fridays.  There are no weekend or bank holiday deliveries.  The cost of delivery is fixed for UK destinations, however, delivery cost to European countries is higher and varies according to the country. Currently, we subsidise the cost of carriage to all destinations to try to minimise the cost to you.

Delivery is not guaranteed next day but the majority of parcels are delivered successfully ‘next day’.

The UK Isles and Highlands are a two-day service.

UK Mainland Delivery cost is £4.75, which includes up to 20kg of product.

Other EU Countries Delivery cost starts at £17.55 (which varies depending on the country).

The delivery courier will provide evidence that your delivery has been made to you (or your nominated recipient) and we use this as proof that goods have been received.

Should your parcel not arrive when expected please let us know and we will investigate.  Please be sure to quote your order number in all correspondence as this will help speed up the investigation.

You must inform us within two working days if the goods are damaged in transit so that we can make a prompt call to the delivery company.  We will do our best to rectify the situation promptly and to your satisfaction.

In December online business increases considerably for Christmas and all couriers throughout the UK are stretched.   With this in mind we encourage our customers to order in plenty of time to ensure orders are delivered in time for Christmas.  During December delays are more likely to occur.

We always have a ‘last dispatch’ date for Christmas, this is usually about a week before Christmas to ensure deliveries are in time for the Christmas period and this date is advertised on our website throughout December.

If our supply of the goods is delayed by an event outside our control then we will contact you as soon as possible to let you know and we will take steps to minimise the effect of the delay. Provided we do this we will not be liable for delays caused by the event, but if there is a risk of substantial delay you may contact us to end the contract and receive a refund for any products you have paid for but not received.

7. Cancellation Policy

You do not have any legal right to cancel your order for any goods that are liable to deteriorate or expire rapidly.  However, should you wish to cancel your order for such goods, please contact us on 01934 742810 or email info@cheddar.ltd as soon as possible.  Provided your cancellation request is received before your items are dispatched, we will cancel your order and refund you in full without charge.

In relation to any goods that are not liable to deteriorate or expiry rapidly, you have a legal right to change your mind within 14 days after the date on which you have received the goods and receive a full refund (including delivery costs). To exercise this right, please contact us on 01934 742810 or email info@cheddar.ltd. You must return the goods to us at your own cost within 14 days of telling us you have changed your mind. We may reduce your refund of the price (excluding delivery costs) to reflect any reduction in the value of the goods caused by your handling them in a way which would not be permitted in a shop. Your refund will be made as soon as possible by the method you used for payment within 14 days from the date on which we receive the goods back from you or, if earlier, the day on which you provide evidence that you have sent the product back to us. If we refund you the price paid before we can inspect the goods and later discover that they have been mishandled in an unacceptable way, you must pay us an appropriate amount.

8.  Returns Policy

Product quality and customer service are highly important to us. If your cheese arrives in a condition you are unhappy with, please notify us within 24 hours of receipt of your order, quoting the order number supplied to you, giving sufficient information for us to investigate further.

Where possible we will strive to replace damaged or unsatisfactory goods. If this is not possible we will refund you in full. If you have a complaint about your order, please provide the best before dates of the cheese and where possible, photos of damaged goods.  Our intention is to provide you with quality products and excellent service, if you feel this has not been the case we will make every effort to rectify the situation.

9.  Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company Gift Vouchers

We sell Gift Vouchers which can be used in our shop in Cheddar or for products bought online.  When using your vouchers online you will be able to enter the unique voucher code in the Promotions & Discounts box before moving to the Checkout page.  Each voucher has an issue date and expires in 12 months and can be exchanged only for goods sold by The Cheddar Gorge Cheese Company (which excludes delivery costs).  We only accept one gift voucher per online order.

Gift vouchers cannot be exchanged for cash and we can't replace them if lost or stolen.

10.  Charity Donations Policy

We would like to be able to donate to all the worthy charities and causes who contact us, but the high demand inevitably means we have decided to limit our donations to local charities and good causes.

To submit a donation request on behalf of your chosen event or cause, please write to us, tell us a little about the cause and your intended use of any donation we make.  The more information you supply the better.

11.  Alterations to Our Terms and Conditions and Website

We reserve the right to make changes at any time to our Terms and Conditions and our website.  (For example, change of legislation, updated product range, price changes or new courier services). Please ensure you read our T&C’s to keep up to date.
